Welcome to the New York City / Long Island Section!  As Section Manager, I would like to invite you to browse through the information listed here and take advantage of the services offered to you as a member of the American Radio Relay League.  The ARRL Field Organization is here to serve you.  If you have a problem, question or simply need more information, please feel free to contact anyone on the NLI section staff.  They will be happy to hear from you and will either answer you directly or steer you to the right person.
There are amateur radio clubs located throughout the section which meet regularly and can offer a myriad of activities for you to participate in. Please consider joining one (or more) of these organizations to become involved!  Since there are many facets to amateur radio today, clubs offer a great place to meet others who share your interests.  In addition to local radio clubs, there are other organizations specifically geared towards one segment or another of the hobby. There are DX clubs, Contest clubs, Digital Clubs, Microwave Clubs, Weak Signal VHF/UHF Clubs, etc. which have much to offer.
This website is here to provide a resource.  If you would like a link to your radio club or organization added here, please contact the webmaster to do so.  We would also like to keep a list of your club's events so others can know what's happening.  Please notify the webmaster of these events and they will be listed here.
Since our section covers all of New York City plus Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island, it is a diverse area for amateur radio.  Hams are active in urban Manhattan, with antennas on rooftops, and in rural Eastern Suffolk, with large tracts of land available as antenna farms.  These differences, however, can not hide our similarities.  Most amateurs share concerns for frequency spectrum, antenna ordinances, technical problems and emergency communications.  The section staff and the field organization are here to help with these and other issues.  Please contact them when and if you need them.
I'd like to thank you for checking in here and encourage you to do so often.  My hope is that this page will become a resource which will be frequently updated and reflect the changing events that interest amateurs in our section.  Again, welcome to the New York City / Long Island Section!

73, George N2GA
