Section Happenings Newsletter

March 2001 QST Section News

The monthly QST Section News column is changing.  Each section
gets only a certain number of lines of text and it varies from year to year
depending upon the number of members and how each section compares
to the other sections.  The bad news is the NLI section column space
has decreased.  This has caused me to make an important decision.
The monthly VE sessions which were available every month in QST
will no longer be printed there - however - they will be available on the
NLI website: http://www.arrlhudson.org/nli instead!   The good news is
that more space has been freed up to focus on happenings and
accomplishments.  I'll try to put more "good stuff" in there - so let
me know what YOU want to see in the column and I'll try to
accommodate you!

NLI Section Convention / Ham Radio University

The 2001 NLI Section Convention was held in conjunction with
Ham Radio University 2001 on Sunday, January 21, 2001, at the
Babylon Town Hall Annex in North Babylon.  Because of the
inclement weather, the event was delayed one-hour and the
turnout was lower than expected.  Over 100 people braved the
elements to attend.  Most of the 20 forums went on as
scheduled and most of the Amateur Radio Clubs also displayed
their information in the club table area.  The special event station
W2V, set up and manned by John NY6DX, made over 230 QSO's.
Many thanks to the HRU committee, the Great South Bay Amateur
Radio Club and its members, the forum moderators and all of the
other volunteers for their help in making this event a success!
The next NLI Section Convention and Ham Radio University will
be held at the same site on Sunday, January 20, 2002.

That's about it for this month!  Please help make this newsletter
even more interesting and informative by sending me news
about YOUR club and events.
